Our Technology

CDHGI Technologies Used

CAPTURING REALITY

The CDHGI leverages and integrates a suite of 2D and 3D technologies to capture the world around us in representative ways. Our tool kit includes terrestrial laser scanning, structured light and triangulation 3D scanning, photogrammetry and reality capture, specialized imaging, drone-based mapping and structure from motion 3D capture, GPS, and GIS approaches. The incorporation of 3D audio soundscapes and cinematic VR and 360 imaging help complete the documentation potentials.

Visualization strategies, such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and 3D modeling and animations, are used to create immersive experiences that showcase heritage in ways that promote education, outreach, research, and sustainable tourism. Our work focuses on several scalar approaches from landscape to object, and includes short range, high-resolution strategies used for creating wayside and museum experiences that enhance interpretation, education, and research applications.
