About The Well

A hand dug and brick-lined well is part of the landmarked Moseley Homestead (National Register of Historic Places) site. The well sits to the west of the main house and dates to the c. 1882 Moseley settling of the property. It produces water that gained a reputation for being sweet and cool, and the proximity to the main trail to Tampa, brought many travelers to the property and offered a welcome respite for caravans and military personnel heading to Fort Brooke and Fort Meade further inland.
