About The Palm

The main living room area of the nest is referred to as The Palm. This room is a large 24’ x 14’ space with an open ceiling with exposed scissor joists. The handmade Palmetto fiber wall covering is the room’s prominent feature. A fireplace is along the north wall and two pianos occupy the south portion of the room. The Palm contains period furnishings and art, with a number of paintings by Julia Daniels Moseley and other family members. Cherished ceramic dishes and collectables are found along built-in shelves, with a comfortable nook or ell area with books lining the walls. The Ell is a cozy 10’ x 10’ space with a built-in divan and lined with bookshelves and cabinets. The space opens off the north portion of the east wall of the Palm, with windows letting in ambient light for reading or looking out.
