LiDAR and 3D Applications at Fort Frederica National Monument
This project is part of a digitization and interpretative design collaboration between the Center for Digital Heritage and Geospatial Information and the National Park Service, Fort Frederica National Monument. Through this partnership, artifacts, features, and landscape areas of historic and archeological significance are being documented using advanced imaging, GPS, remote sensing, and laser scanning technologies. Results include online and virtual heritage tour development, 3D print replicas of artifacts provided to the park for use in interpretive and museum applications for the NPS, a geospatial database application for site managers, and broader impact digital collection assets that will include embeddable 3D models for viewing, VR, and AR applications designed for online visualization of artifacts.
